Private First Class Kuhn was a member of the 58th Military Police Company, 519th Military Police Battalion. On 11 January 1951, he died of burns suffered when a gasoline stove exploded in his quarters near Kumchon, South Korea.

Kuhn was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Korean War Service Medal.
