Corporal Williams was a member of Company B, 1st Battalion, 17th Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. On 21 November 1951, he was killed when a grenade exploded in a fire near Horun-ni, North Korea.

Williams was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
