Corporal Mealor was a member of Company C, 65th Engineer Combat Battalion, 25th Infantry Division. On 30 July 1952, he drowned when he fell into a flooding river in North Korea.

Mealor was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
