Veteran of World War II. In Korea, Captain Doolittle was the pilot of a B-26B Invader bomber with the 95th Bomber Squadron, 17th Bomber Wing. On 25 April 1953, while on a night intruder mission, his aircraft was hit by anti-aircraft fire and crashed. He was listed as Missing in Action and was presumed dead on 26 April 1954. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
At the time of his death, Doolittle was a Senior Pilot and had flown 112 total combat missions in WWII and Korea.
