Private First Class Deutschman was a member of the 43rd Engineer Construction Battalion stationed near Tokyo, Japan. He died of other causes at the Army Hospital in Tokyo on 1 June 1952.

Deutschman was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
