Private De Blasi was a member of Headquarters Company, 5th Infantry Regimental Combat Team. On 11 March 1953, he was riding in the rear of a truck near Chunchon, South Korea, when it overturned killing him.

De Blasi was awarded the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
