Master Sergeant Crean was a veteran of World War II. During the Korean War, he was Stationed in London, England. On 18 March 1954, he died in London of a heart attack.

Crean was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the American Theater of Operations Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
