Private First Class Clark was a member of Battery B, 37th Field Artillery Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division. On 12 December 1950, he was Killed in Action fighting the enemy near Ascom, South Korea, by a gunshot wound to the chest.

Clark was awarded the Purple Heart, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
