Ensign Randolph was the pilot of a F9F-2B Pantherjet fighter with Fighter Squadron 23 aboard the carrier USS Princeton (CV-37). On 5 June 1951, as he landed on the flight deck, his aircraft crashed into the after end of the deck, burned and exploded killing him and two crewmen. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
Randolph was awarded the Air Medal, the Purple Heart, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
