|
Captain Bird was a veteran of World War II. During the Korean War, he was a flight instructor at Williams Air Force Base, Arizona. On 16 December 1952, while flying in a T-6 training aircraft with a student, his aircraft crashed at Ritenhouse Auxiliary Landing Field near Williams Air Force Base. Bird was awarded the European Theater of Operations Medal, the American Theater Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. |
