Fireman (E3) Evans was a crew member of the Naval ammunition ship USS Ranier (AOE-7). On 19 March 1953, he died aboard ship of coronary sclerosis.

Evans was awarded the Combat Action Ribbon, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
