|
James Howard Eddie served in the U.S. Army 1966-68 during the Vietnam war and attained the rank of Sergeant. He loved children. While serving in Vietnam, James made arrangements to adopt a little Vietnamese girl about 5-years old. He had taken care of all the "red tape" and arrangements had been made to fly her to the USA the next day. However, a grenade was thrown in the tent where she was living and the little girl died in James' arms. One of the pictures contained in this honoree record is of James holding in his lap the little girl he was going to adopt. After his discharge from the Army, James became a police officer in West Memphis, AR. He later owned his own construction company. Death and Burial Sergeant James Howard Eddie died on 21 August 1997. He is buried at Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion, AR. |
