Corporal Parks was a member of Headquarters Company, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. He died of other causes on 16 June 1951 near Simnae, Korea.

Parks was awarded the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Korean War Service Medal.
