Technical Sergeant Owen was a member of the Maintenance Company, 1st Combat Service Group, Fleet Marine Force, Pacific. He died in Korea from other causes on 25 November 1951.

Owen was awarded the Combat Action Ribbon, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
