Private Marple was a member of Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He died of other causes on 21 December 1950 aboard a ship in Pusan Harbor, South Korea.

Marple was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Korean War Service Medal.
