Private First Class Lankford was a member of Battery A, 17th Field Artillery Battalion, IX Corps. On 19 July 1952, he drowned while wading in deep water near Komipo, North Korea. Lankford was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Korean War Service Medal. |
