Private Crosby was a medic of the Medical Company, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. On 29 April 1953, he was in his bunker during a heavy rain near Kumju-ri, North Korea, when his bunker caved in suffocating him.

Crosby was awarded the Combat Medical Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
