Second Lieutenant Rabun was the pilot of a F-51D Mustang night fighter with the 8th Fighter Bomber Squadron, 49th Fighter-Bomber Group. On 16 October 1950, his aircraft collided with a L-17 control aircraft near Haeju, Korea, and crashed.

Second Lieutenant Rabun was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
