Sergeant First Class Urban was a member of Headquarters Battery, I Corps Artillery. On 27 September 1953, a fellow soldier released a hand grenade that detonated prematurely at Camp St. Barbara on the bank of the Yongp Yong Chon River.

Urban was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
