Private Richison was a member of Company G, 2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division. On 13 August 1950, he was killed during an enemy mortar attack near Yongpo in the Taejon area of South Korea.

Richison was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
