Biography:

USMA Class of 1949, Second Lieutenant Newman was a veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was a member of Company F, 2nd Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy near Waegwan, South Korea, on 15 August 1950.

Newman was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
