Private First Class Jones was a member of Company A, 13th Engineer Combat Battalion, 7th Infantry Division. He died of other causes on 29 June 1952 in North Korea.

Jones was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Korean War Service Medal.
