Master Sergeant Goyette was a veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was a member of the 34th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy near Taejon, South Korea on 20 July 1950.
Goyette was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the European Theater of Operations Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, the Army of Occupation Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
