Private First Class Clemons was a member of Battery B, 76th Anti-Aircraft Artillery (Automatic Weapons) Battalion, U.S. Army. On 7 February 1951, he died in his sleep at Taegu, South Korea, cause unknown.

Clemons was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
