Corporal Jennings was a veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was a member of the 59th Military Police Company, 3rd Infantry Division. He suffered acute cerebral edema and acute cardiac dilation and died in Pusan on 9 February 1951.

Jennings was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean War Service Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
