Private First Class Henson was a member of Company A, 811th Engineer Aviation Construction Battalion. On 3 June 1953, he was working at the end of the runway at Kimpo Air Base (K-14), South Korea, when a RF-86A Sabrejet reconnaissance aircraft crashed and burned killing him.

Henson was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
