Private First Class Daniels was a member of Weapons Company, 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in Korea on 8 April 1953 by enemy machine gun fire.

For his leadership and valor, Private First Class Daniels was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, the Purple Heart, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
