Myhre was a member of the 6407th Ammunition Handling Unit, U.S. Air Force. On 23 August 1950, the vehicle in which he was riding came under sniper fire. The driver was killed and the vehicle overturned, killing Corporal Myhre. Corporal Myhre was awarded the Purple Heart, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
