Corporal Korte was a member of Company I, 3rd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division. He was Killed in Action while attacking "Line Jamestown" during "Operation Commando" in North Korea on 10 October 1951.

Korte was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
