Sergeant Pound was a veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was a member of the 2802nd Army Unit, Korean Military Assistance Group (KMAG). He died of other causes on 11 December 1952 near Yonchon, South Korea.

Pound was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Korean War Service Medal.
