Kirk Frederick Lund Kirk Frederick Lund was born on 21 January 1926 in Peru, Miami County, IN. He was the son of Frank Elmer and Mary Alice Smith Lund. Kirk loved animals, and life itself. A 1944 graduate of Peru High School, he attended Indiana University and the University of Maryland. He also attended the Army Language School at the Presidio of Monterey, CA. Kirk was married to Beulah Ramer on 12 September 1948. They had 4 children, Mike, Pat, Kim and Lisa; and 4 granddaughters, 4 grandsons and 7 great-grandchildren. Military Service He served over 25 years in the U.S. Army. He fought in Italy and the Philippines during World War II; he also supported the troops in Korea and Vietnam. He was in Counter-Intelligence with the Army, working several years at the Pentagon. He served as Lead Special Agent for the security detail to protect the president (President Johnson) while assigned to the Pentagon. Some of his special assignments included investigating and declassifying Amelia Earhart and Dwight Eisenhower files prior to the release of any classified info to the public. His last assignment was in the office of the Army Chief of Staff at the Pentagon. He retired from the Army in 1968 as a Master Sergeant. Post-Military Life He was a member of the Association of the U. S. Army; the National Counter Intelligence Corps Association; and the Friends on the Lahn Masonic Lodge 860 in Giessen, Germany. He was a wonderful husband and father and is missed terribly by his family. Death and Burial Master Sergeant Kirk Frederick Lund died on 27 May 1992 in the Continuing Care Center of Dukes Memorial Hospital. He is buried at Peoria Cemetery in Peoria, Miami County, IN.
