Staff Sergeant Obzina was a crew member of a B-26B Invader bomber with the 8th Bomber Squadron, 3rd Bomber Group. On 28 November 1950, while on a day interdiction of the enemy, his aircraft was hit by anti-aircraft fire and crashed 65 miles northwest of Taegu. His parachute became entangled with the aircraft and he was killed.
Obzina was awarded the Purple Heart, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
