Specialist Fourth Class Morris was a member of Company C, 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He was killed when North Korean infiltrators ambushed his truck in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) on 18 October 1969.

Morris was awarded the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal and the Korean Defense Service Medal.
