Corporal Marion was a member of Battery A, 555th Field Artillery Battalion, 5th Infantry Regimental Combat Team. On 17 March 1952, near Wollogmyon, North Korea, he accidentally stepped on a land mine.

Marion was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Korean War Service Medal.
