John Robert Lemons was born on 15 January 1925 in Bethlehem, MS. He was the son of John Alexander and Evie Ola Wilson Lemons.

Military Service

John Lemons served in the 36th Infantry, U. S. Army during World War II. He was in the South Pacific for 2 years and 10 months.

Private First Class Lemons was killed in an oilpipe / waterheater explosion at Keflavik Airport in Keflavik, Iceland, at around 2:00 AM on 21 February 1947. Two Quonset huts burnt to ashes in 5 minutes and Lemons lost his life in one of the huts.

Death and Burial

Private First Class Lemons died on 21 February 1947. He is buried at Bethlehem Methodist Cemetery in Bethlehem, MS.
