Private First Class Adams was a member of Company A, 2nd Chemical Mortar Battalion, U.S. Army. He died of other causes on 4 March 1952, while on guard duty trying to locate a prowler.

Adams was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
