Private Walker was a member of the 52nd Ordnance Ammunition Company, U.S. Army. On 30 August 1952, while crossing a bridge near Yongchon, South Korea, his vehicle was sideswiped and went over the railing killing him.

Walker was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
