Private First Class Story was a rifleman with Company H, 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division. He was Killed in Action while on a combat patrol from Hill 229 towards "Yoke" five miles east of Panmunjom, South Korea, on 13 June 1952.

Story was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
