Second Lieutenant Stucker was a field observer with the 48th Field Artillery Battalion, 7th Infantry Division. On 16 October 1952 near Chunchon, North Korea, he deliberately exposed himself to the enemy so that he could direct artillery fire on the enemy delaying the movement of friendly troops into battle.
For his leadership and valor, Second Lieutenant Stucker was awarded the Silver Star Medal, the Purple Heart, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
