Private First Class Scott was a member of Company F, 2nd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division. On 2 September 1951 at Chorwon, North Korea, he suffered a heart attack and died.

Scott was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
