| Biography: | ||||
|
During the Korean War, Second Lieutenant Rae was assigned to a flight training school in Texas. On 15 January 1954, he was on a training flight near Big Springs, Texas, when his plane became disabled. Rather than bail out and have his aircraft endanger people in a residential area below him, he chose to guide his aircraft into rocky ranch country and was killed when it crashed. Rae was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. |
