Private First Class Marquez was a member of the 224th Infantry Regiment, 40th Infantry Division. He was seriously injured in North Korea on 8 June 1952 and died of those injuries on 3 July 1952.

Marquez was awarded the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
