Charles Enwall
He was a graduate of Ovid High School in Ovid, CO. Charles enlisted in the U. S. Army Air Forces at Denver. During World War II, he served in the Mediterranean Theater of Operations with the 319th Fighter Squadron, 325th Fighter Group. As a Technical Sergeant, from 28 January 1943 to 1 February 1945, he was the NCOIC of all the airplane parts and equipment of his squadron. During this period, he was involved with many moves in Africa and Italy, as well as a complete change over in parts to two (2) different types of fighter aircraft. His professional skills, leadership, resourcefulness and devotion to duty under the most difficult field conditions were vital factors in the squadron's superlative maintenance record. For this he was awarded the Bronze Star. Charles served in the Army Air Forces for four years. Medals and Awards Bronze Star Medal Distinguished Unit Badge with 1 Cluster Technical Sergeant Charles Enwall died on 21 March 1971. He is buried at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, CO, in Plot S, 0, 511. & |
