Private Bailey was a member of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 7th Infantry Division. He died of other causes on 2 November 1950 near Iwoa, North Korea.

Bailey was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Korean War Service Medal.
