Corporal Widdison was awarded a member of Company E, 2nd Battalion, 196th Light Infantry Brigade, 23rd Infantry Division. On 12 May 1968, he was killed while executing his mission in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) of Korea.

Widdison was awarded the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal and the Korean Defense Service Medal.
