Corporal Marier was a member of Company G, 2nd Battalion, 223rd Infantry Regiment, 40th Infantry Division. On 14 February 1952 near Kumsong, North Korea, he was suffocated when his bunker collapsed.

Marier was awarded the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Korean War Service Medal.
