Lieutenant Arrivee was the pilot of an AD-2 Skyraider dive bomber and Officer in Charge of the Composite Squadron 35 Detachment aboard the USS Boxer (CV-21). On 21 June 1951, he was flying an armed reconnaissance near Yangdok, North Korea, when his aircraft was struck by anti-aircraft fire and crashed. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
For his leadership and valor, Lieutenant Arrivee was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
