Captain Wright was the pilot of a B-26B Invader bomber with the 729th Bomber Squadron, 452nd Bomber Wing. On 17 September 1951, while on a daylight reconnaissance mission in "Area CT", the last contact with the aircraft was made when it was over Hoengsong Airfield (K-46). He was listed as Missing in Action and was presumed dead on 11 November 1953. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
For his leadership and valor, Captain Wright was awarded the Silver Star Medal, the Distinguished Flying Cross with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Bronze Star, the Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Purple Heart, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
