Private First Class Duran was a member of Company B, 1st Battalion, 187th Airborne Infantry Regimental Combat Team. He died of other causes on 12 October 1950 at the 4th Field Hospital.

Duran was awarded the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
