First Lieutenant Williams was the pilot of a F-84E Thunderjet fighter with the 429th Fighter-Bomber Squadron, 474th Fighter-Bomber Group. On 1 October 1952, while on a training mission, his aircraft crashed into the Yellow Sea. He was presumed dead on 13 October 1953. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
Williams was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
